The Creation of RDO Jamii Lodge

RDO Jamii Lodge was established as part of the Rural Development Organization (RDO) in partnership with Eine-Welt-Gruppe Schlins|Röns, an Austrian organization supporting sustainable development in Tanzania. The lodge was created as a practical training center for students enrolled in RDO’s vocational training programs, particularly in hospitality and tourism, while also serving as a social enterprise to generate income for RDO’s ongoing projects.

During construction of the lodge, students from RDO’s vocational training schools played a key role, applying their skills in carpentry, sewing, electrical installation, and plumbing. The furniture was handcrafted in RDO’s woodworking workshops, while textiles such as curtains and bed covers were produced in the sewing workshops. Today, the lodge serves not only as a place for comfortable accommodation, dining, and meetings but also as an opportunity for students to gain hands-on experience in the hospitality sector.

With income generated from the lodge, RDO continues to support orphaned and vulnerable children in rural Tanzania. Through this approach, RDO Jamii Lodge stands as a model of sustainable tourism, local empowerment, and skills development.

Our Mission

In alignment with RDO’s mission to promote sustainability and empower the local community, the concept of RDO Jamii Lodge was born.

Established as a social enterprise, our lodge serves multiple purposes:
✅ Education: Providing field study opportunities for students from RDO’s vocational training centers, teaching them useful skills and knowledge in a practical setting.
✅ Economic Empowerment: Creating employment opportunities for graduates from RDO’s schools, contributing to local economic growth.
✅ Sustainable Tourism: Offering guests an authentic and eco-friendly retreat that showcases the beauty and culture of Tanzania while minimizing our environmental footprint.
✅ Community Engagement: Sourcing from local suppliers, including ingredients from our own organic agriculture farms, ensuring that our operations directly benefit the community. We work closely with local artisans, farmers, and businesses to strengthen regional sustainability and preserve both cultural traditions and the natural environment.
✅ Supporting RDO’s Overall Mission: Generating revenue to fund RDO’s various community projects, ensuring their continuity and impact.
